A message from Mike:
We’ve had such a great Junior Sailing season this year that we would like to have one final event for the kids before the colder Fall weather sets in. Our club has a unique vantage point for watching sail races that other clubs just don’t have. We’ll be running this race right out in front so everything is in clear view – like watching a football game from the lawn or docks. So come on down, enjoy the afternoon and witness what our entire club can take pride in – a resurgent Junior program with member kids showing what they have learned over the past couple of years.
We should have a few more confirm their participation in the next few days. If there’s a Junior in your family who wants to sail, please let me know so we can confirm a boat for their use.
We will rig boats starting around 11:00am, have a skippers meeting at Noon, and have an on-the-water start shortly afterwards. The committee boat will be Solaris, and a chase boat will be present to lend assistance if needed. The series of 5-6 races will take 1.5 to 2 hours, so we’ll be off the water, derigged and completely finished by 3:00pm. After the races, we will have an ice cream social celebration. The kids can leave their boats in the water, and pleasure sail afterwards if desired. The restaurant will open at 4:00pm, and will be offering half-price burgers in addition to the usual full menu. So pack a picnic lunch for mid-day, and plan to make a family day of it if your plans allows.
