What a mess…

It was a fun night on the race course. I was very disorganized for the first race of the season. We have a few kinks to works out. After picking up the kids from their camps I spent two hours and forty five minutes getting to NERYC – over an hour behind schedule.

Started on port tack a few seconds late and proceeded to hit the pin. After restarting in light air we were way behind and decided to go for what looked like more breeze on the right side of the course as everyone else sailed left into light air. Rounded the windward mark “c” over 60 seconds ahead of the J 24 Solaris. Reached to “b” and gybed to the next mark which was now the finish line on a shorten course. Finished at 19:28:11 about 6 minutes ahead of the J24.

Lots of things to get done before the next race:
New back stay and flicker
Change shackles on the jib halyards
Fix the electronics
Add a splice to the main halyard
Lube the luff tracks
Less tension on the upper two main battens
Check to see if the luff of the #1 is an inch or two too long
