Building a new tiller for Morning Star

I skipped an entire year of my sailing adventures because the WordPress app on my iPhone made it too difficult to post pictures so I turned to Instagram (@mhergan) and also started Deadrise Marine Photography to sell my regatta photography (www.deadrisemarinephoto.com). I going to give it another attempt and see what happens.

I built a steam box and used a wallpaper steamer to bend some cherry and ash for a new tiller.

You must have a lot of time on your hands looks good! You know they are stock items online Ha Ha Did you put stops on the rudder so you don’t bend it if backed up too fast? If so what angle? Thx. It was windy last season anyway

I didn’t like the shape of the stock tillers and my old tiller shape had a habit of flying up during tight maneuvers on the starting line. No stops I just hold on tight in reverse. We sailed with the #3 and reefed main most of the season.
